Black Farming Conference

Mission

Our goals are improving the production and distribution of food and advocating for and creating an equitable food system that ensures greater access to locally produced, affordable, nutritious food to historically deprived and under-resourced communities of color.

`The Black Indigenous People of Color Food and Farming Network's mission is achieved through the collective work of our network membership, which includes

  • Educational programs that ensure intergenerational transfer of knowledge that advances and upholds traditional Afro-indigenous farming practices.
  • The creation of sustainable, economically viable food systems based on sound business models and thriving social enterprises;
  • Developing and participating in relevant applied and empirical research.
  • Strengthening connections within our network through the creation of meaningful partnerships and community-building strategies that lead to food sovereignty and self-sufficiency.
  • Impactful public policy advocacy that supports agricultural and food systems work and workers, and the consumers in the communities we serve and support.
